Quality upright pianos cased in a cabinet, as found in this beautiful instrument, are rare today and are, in most situations, available by special order only and at a significantly higher price point. More importantly, piano makers reward only their best models with such expensive and, by today’s standards, elaborate piano cabinets.

Established in 1956 by brothers Jai-Young and Jai-Chang, this ambitious piano company entered a direct partnership with Yamaha of Japan, eventually setting up a full-scale production of pianos. Remarkably, skilled and highly motivated Korean craftsmen manufactured virtually every component of every Yamaha piano in a South Korean plant. Over the years, YC was in partnership with a number of prestigious piano makers and designers, making instruments for iconic Baldwin and Steinway (some of the best Essex piano models) and legendary piano designer Joseph Pramberger.

This model, made by the Korean Young Chang Piano Company, is a Limited Edition Model crafted in Korea circa 2003. Today, most YC pianos are made in a large 750.000 square-foot YC facility in Tianjin, China.

Only selected top-quality models are made in Korea, just as this fine 44″ tall upright piano in a rich-grain satin cherry cabinet.
